Inmates Graduate from Skills Acquisition Program at Ilaro Correctional Center


The National Convener of the Alternative Movement, Otunba Segun Showunmi has beamed his torch of hope on inmates currently serving at the Ilaro Correctional Centre, Ogun state by sponsoring 89 inmates through skills acquisition programmes organized in partnership with the Right Thinker Global initiative.


The programme which took place on Tuesday was to give hope to Nigerians irrespective of their present situation.

The Alternative team, led by Alh. Comrade Chief Olalekan Hassan and Hon. Keshinro Yusuf, recently visited the Nigeria Correctional Service Medium Security Custodial Center in Ilaro, Ogun State. The event marked the graduation of 89 inmates who completed a 30-week intensive training program in various artisanship skills.

The program, organized by The Right Thinkers Global Initiative in partnership with THE ALTERNATIVE Ogun State, aimed to equip inmates with practical skills and enhance their mental and spiritual capabilities. The graduates were awarded certificates of merit and handouts.

The inmates expressed gratitude to the organizers, and the personnel in-charge of the correctional center, CSC Afolabi, appreciated The Right Thinkers Global Initiative and THE ALTERNATIVE for their commitment to rehabilitation and capacity building. CSC Afolabi noted that the initiative demonstrates true compassion and partnership in nation-building.

Pastor Ola Emmanuel, National Coordinator of The Right Thinkers Global Initiative, thanked Otunba Segun Showunmi, National Convener of The Alternative, for supporting the project. This initiative is part of the efforts to reform and rehabilitate inmates, providing them with skills and support for successful reintegration into society.

The Convener of the Alternative Movement, Otunba Segun Showunmi assured the people of Ogun state and Nigeria of more capacity building programmes without discrimination.
