EGBA ECONOMIC SUMMIT HOLDS 2026 2ND QUARTER GENERAL MEETING AT ABEOKUTA
It was a high level intellectual discussions at the General Meeting of Egba Economic Summit meeting presided over by the President; Dr.Gbenga Adeoye today 18th April, 2026.
The meeting was held at Global Peace Apartment mini Hall at No 70, First Avenue, Ibara GRA in Abeokuta.
The members that attended the meeting are
1. Dr.Gbenga Adeoye.
2. Builder Abiodun Karunwi
3. Dr.Kehinde Sogunle.
4. Dr.Lanre Biobaku.
5. Mrs Bunmi Lawson.
6. Mr Femi Fadahunsi.
7. Mr Lateef Surakatu.
Apology was received from
Captain Temilola Okesanjo
Engr.Ola Sobande, Chief Francis Meshioye, Barr.Taiwo Adeoluwa and Chief Tunji Sunmonu.
Chief Shina Luwoye has earlier taken permission to attend his Palace installation as Maiyegun of Egbaland wher all members moved to after the general meeting .
Chief Tunji Sunmonu being a member of.Chieftancy Committee was unable to attend the EES General Meeting as he was busy at Ake Palace.
In attendance was Mrs Lolade Oseni who is the Administrative Secretary of the Summit.
Major issues discussed are:
1. Welcome address by the President Dr.Gbenga Adeoye where he thanked members for their love and sacrifice for the development of Egbaland.
He also welcome the new member; Dr.Lanre Biobaku and charged him to use his academic skills in Communication Management up to PhD level to support economic development of Egbaland stating that communication is key in changing the world views of people.
Other matters discussed are :
2. The need to monitor the extent of implementation of 2026 Budget in Egbaland was also discussed.
3. Other vital issues discussed is the need for EES to provide free advice to ensure the full Economic Impact of annual Liasabi Festival is annexed .
4. The need to promote the wearing of adire as a signature dress of Egba people and even as aso ebi for events in Egbaland.
5. Other issues discussed is the need to keep in touch with all Egba Sons and daughters holding any important position, whether elected or appointed; be it at the state or Federal level to encourage them to use their position for the development of Egbaland.
6. The summit agreed to speed up the regional master plan project that is ongoing by contacting the Technical Team who promised to send their update in May.
7. The summit also agreed that Progress of Project at Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences should be monitored by Builder Abiodun Karunwi and encourage members to support the University in all all forms.
8. The meeting adjourned with two committees inaugurated to handle special developmental issues.
Egba Economic Summit Group is a think tank established to promote the development of Egbaland and Egba people.
