TASUED New Status: Gbenga Adeoye Hails Gbenga Daniel’s Achievement

TAI SOLARIN  UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION ADOPTION BY FGN - I REJOICE WITH OTUNBA GBENGA DANIEL AND OGUN STATE

The role of history is  to give a clear picture to those that were not around at the time of events and to also remind those that witnessed events, as human beings are capable of forgetting past events over time.

1. There are so many good things that Tinubu has done in the past, such that when he told the history leading to Emilokan Analogy; the eyes of politicians trying to block him in his party became opened.

2. If not for his trip to Abeokuta and his foundation laying ( as we call it in Law)before pronouncing Emilokan; we would not have known that Tinubu did not take any contract from Buhari and the explanation was even expanded to as little as Garri and Fura and in fact not even loan….very deep.!!!.

3. It was a wonderful history that resonated around the country then .

4. Abeokuta; my town is a unique city…First in many things .First Church, first woman to drive car, first person to produce a music record; first CJN in fact, first interim Head of State…plenty of first…Ogun State is not called the Gateway State for fun….we are the gateway to prosperity and greatness ; even Gateway to presidency .OBJ.MKO..SONEKAN and even Tinubu entered through that gate...Many more will still enter..We shall get there again with time, whether the devil likes it or not. We are created for greatness in our land and let no one stand on our way when it is time. Itaku to ni kerin ma wo odo..atoun aterin lo ma jo lo.( it means Anyone attempting to block us from getting to our destination will be part of our entourage to the destination.)

5. Subsidy removal and floating of Naira is associated with Tinubu .Student Loan is also associated with him. His style in the affairs of Lagos shows that he remains the leader of his party in Lagos such that anything done without his nod will be reversed.Obasa Gate is a clear example. That is great influence. He did not earn it in one day. He worked for it as far back as 1992 consistently.

6. Let me leave Asiwaju and history of what he has done alone.

7. I have to go to Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

8. I recalled his passionate lecture of Awakening the Sleeping Giant.

9. His journey from AD to PDP to get the ticket.

10. I remember meeting him when he came to visit the screening committee at Dusmar Presidential Hotel that fateful evening, and he said the room given to Gwadabe does not befit such a person, and he paid for upgrade and the woman was moved to a higher suite.

11. Otunba Gbenga Daniel's focus on human Capital development is unequal.

12. He sent Ogun State Graduates to UK for Post Graduate Programmes.. They came back refined and served as civil servants. Their influence remains till today. I know Bukunmi of Glory Time Bible Church and others whose lives totally changed by that scholarship.

13. He did that without knowing their father or mother.

14. Dr. Onaolapo Soleye told me he loved OGD for his love for education and youths.

15. This man OGD came up with the idea of ICT Colleges which later became Polytechnics …in all the three Senatorial District.

16. Igbesa and Saapade people will never forget the impact .We have Adegbenro ICT  in the central too and Amb Toye Okanlawon was appointed by Dapo Abiodun as Chairman of council.

17. South West ICT training centre in Abeokuta also came during his tenure. He wanted the Stock Exchange in Abeokuta too.

18. That same OGD built Laderin Estate for Civil servants at a price less than N800,000. I  have professional colleagues who are beneficiaries.

19. That was what opened Laderin's land value to the millions it is today. Investment in sport during OGD'S TENURE WAS GREAT TOO. All stadia built or upgraded are still standing today.

20. Same way with OGD estate.I used to live in Asero Estate before moving to Ibara GRA and behind us was only one street and then facing that street was a thick bush and after OGD estate was built,  the land behind  it too was opened up and sold to civil servants and today Asero is one area anyone can live.

21. Justice Bakre use to tell me "Your namesake changed my view of bushes to houses and I will never forget him”.

22. The likes of Chief Aremu Adeyemi, one of the Alakoso owu also has his house same street with Justice Bakre and they all got so excited as that OGD estate changed their bush views to another estate.

23. Judges Quarters was built to open up Olusegun Obasanjo Hill Top Estate and the areas that used to be lonely in the past became home to Former World Court Judge.Prince Bola Ajibola, Former Deputy Governor Salmot Badru and many high-profile individuals.Thank God Amosun added to it with HID Awolowo estate, Orange Vallley through OPIC and some others behind Civil Servant Quarters at Laderin...Dapo Abiodun team are regenerating the IBARA GRA and the future is Ikoyi of Abeokuta …History will refer to him and OGD who started with Megamound & other developers.

Amosun is known for bridges …With his slogan Ogun standard
.His bridges are there to see in Ijebu Ode...overhead Benin Expressway which eliminated regular accident at Sagamu and Abeokuta...Cultural Centre and others are traceable to Osoba.

24. My focus today is  TASUED .

25. The university is solid enough for  Federal Government to adopt it. Glory to God.

26. It remains the first University of Education in Nigeria.

27. I was a Governing Council Member for a short period appointed by Amosun few months before he left office and I walked round that University with the then V.C Professor Arigbabu who is now Commissioner of Education in Ogun State ..Very brilliant and humble mathematician with passion for education in company of Prof. Balogun the former VC of FUNAAB together with other  Council members .

28. I saw the impact and the fruits of that great seed Otunba Gbenga Daniel planted.

29. I can count the number of graduates that went through that school that are doing well today.

30. I once had a staff that later became a Chartered Accountant, and she graduated from TASUED too.

31. Their programmes are unique.

32. If not for the abrupt removal of our council;  we had plans to introduce new programmes in the area of security and criminology, focusing on DSS, Customs, Immigration and Police officers as a part-time programme with quality and adequate  value exchange for it.

33. Congratulations to OGD .

My advice to all leaders :

  A.  Do everything possible to develop human beings.

B. Do not joke with Education.

C. Even if people are criticizing you; don't stop whatever is good.

D. The same Gbenga Daniel created OGROMA in the pattern of FERMA.If that has been left to function well; May be today, they would have been able to do road like Julius Berger.

34. To this end, I say Congratulations to Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Ogun State and my inlaws ..the Ijebus and Awujale because the University is on the land of the Ijebus.( more or  else in preparation for Ijebu State. I pray it becomes a reality )

35. When a university is appraised and found good for adoption by FGN  in one's domain,  then it calls for celebration.

36. Let nobody condemn any form of education.

37. Next is for us to see how we can turn the Technical College at Abeokuta to ABEOKUTA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (ATU) with campuses in all the three Senatorial District and main Campus at Idi Aba Abeokuta.

38. I urge Prince Dapo Abiodun to act fast and make history by CONVERTING TECHNICAL COLLEGE IDI ABA TO ABEOKUTA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY just as TASUED is making history today and no one can forget OGD  who laid the foundation.

39. I volunteer to provide pro bono support  service to bring this to reality.

  .
40. I  want to beg the Federal Government to leave that name as  "TASUED" and not attempt to change the name.

41. TASUED is now a Federal University just as UNILAG remains Federal University and the beauty of that great University is to keep the name..TASUED.

42. May God bless OGD, God bless Amosun, God bless Dapo Abiodun and his team , God bless Ogun State, God bless Nigeria, God bless Tinubu ..God bless the Minister of Education and NUC.

43. I also pray that God will bless the Ijebu Heritage Group and other Associations; both known and unknown, and those who worked behind closed doors to ensure TASUED becomes a Federal University of Education.

44. The future is bright for us and if we do what is right today, history will not forget us and the generation after us will also want to do what is right, so their names can be written in the sand of history.
