TRIBUTE: Otunba Segun Showunmi Mourns Alhaji AbdulSemiu Sobayo



Renowned statesman and leader, Otunba Segun Showunmi, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and associate, Alhaji AbdulSemiu Sobayo, who passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

In a moving statement, Showunmi expressed his shock and grief over Sobayo's sudden demise, describing it as an "irreparable loss." He revealed that he received the news of Sobayo's passing through a phone call from his wife, which left him stunned and disbelieving.

Showunmi's tribute was a beautiful blend of Islamic prayers, Yoruba culture, and personal anecdotes. He prayed to Allah to forgive Sobayo's shortcomings, grant him a peaceful rest, and protect his family and the community he led.

The statesman also celebrated Sobayo's life, leadership, and legacy, describing him as a noble leader from Asa and a respected figure in Ake. He concluded his tribute with a heartfelt prayer for Sobayo's soul to rest in peace.
