Ogun Association of Senior Civil Servants opens N100M secretariat

Association of Senior Civil Servants (ASCSN) Ogun state branch onWednesday opened to the public its N100M ultramodern secretariat at Magbon, Abeokuta.

This no less an achievement brought to an end running of the 30 years old union activities on temporary and rented apartments.

Speaking during the commissioning, Ogun state Chairman of the association, Comr Bunmi Fajobi who also doubles as the state Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) said the project which was solely financed from the check off dues of its members commenced in October 2017 and was completed under two years.

Comr Fajobi said that the tastefully furnished secretariat which boast of several offices for its housing scheme, microfinance, 700 capacity sitting hall, guest house among others would undoubtedly enhance productivity and smooth running of the union activities.

Fajobi said the saving scheme of the union has hit over N2bn while it has also completed 50 unit of houses at the union housing estate at Koriko, near Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

He has however appealed to the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun to fulfill the N100M promise made in the past by the state government to support the housing project for the senior civil servants saying that the money would be use to address problems of bad roads and lack of electricity in the community.

Fajobi has equally appealed to the governor to consider confirming the appointment of about 1000 workers employed at the tail end of Gov Amosun's regime pleading that it was about time the governor made these workers happy and regularise their employment.

He has equally appealed to Prince Abiodun to ensure the negotiation on consequential adjustment on the N30,000 new minimum wage was completed before the year ran out saying that the governor can't do less to make the civil servants in the state end the year on a cheerful note.

Speaking at the event, the governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun who was full of accolades for Comr Bunmi Fajobi led executive for putting up a befitting secretariat for the senior civil servants said his administration had always considered workers as dependable allies in building a greater future for the state.

Promising never to take the public service for granted, Gov Abiodun assured that his administration would strongly consider all that the labour tabled before him at the event as he would leave no stone unturned to continually do things that would enhance workers' productivity.

Other dignitaries at the event were Mrs Modupe Adekunle, Ogun state former Head of Service, Comr Emmanuel Bankole, state Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comr Akeem Lasisi, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS)
Comr Alade Bashiru Lawal, General Secretary, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) among others.
