The Alternative Convener Segun Showunmi Salutes Fallen Military Heroes on Armed Forces Remembrance Day

WE HAVE HOPE BECAUSE OF YOU...

The convener and leader of the opposition movement in Nigeria, Otunba Segun Showunmi yesterday described the military fallen heroes as beacon of hope for all Nigerians.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abeokuta titled ' We have hope because of You', Showunmi mentioned their sacrifices, gallantry as strong contributions to the preservation of our Nation.

Showunmi whose father also served in the Army said that the military through our checked history had protected the sanctity and sovereignty of our dear country, Nigeria.

The leader of the Alternative mentioned that he is of strong conviction and hope  that the Nigeria of his dreams will be achievable, feasible and possible we long as the military are still playing their part.

His exact statement below:

Every January 15th of every year, we as a nation acknowledge the sacrifices and gallantry of our Armed Forces especially our fallen heroes who through our checkered history have protected the sanctity of the sovereignty of our dear country Nigeria. 

Over the years, they have provided the blanket of security and safety for us as a nation. 

At every critical turn in our national life, when called upon, they have always answered the clarion call to patriotic duty. 

As a young child growing up, I admired my Uncle who also served this great country of ours as a soldier. He impressed it upon me the deep sense of gratitude to every soldier living or dead. 

As a leader of opposition, I am of a strong CONVICTION and HOPE that the Nigeria of my dreams and of all Nigerians will be achievable, feasible and possible for as long as we have you. 

We can and will only have a Nigeria which works for everyone and which will work for everyone if only we have Nigeria. 

We will have a Nigeria to be proud of, and a Nigeria envied among comity of nations if and only we have a Nigeria.

We will only have a Nigeria only when we have the Armed Forces. 

On this day as we celebrate the gallantry and efforts of our fallen heroes, You men are the beacon of HOPE to us that we shall always have a Nigeria to call our own.
