Showunmi Urges Gov Fubara to Be Mindful of God, Other Benefactors As He Celebrates His 50th Birthday
GOV SIMINALAYI FUBARA CELEBRATES 50TH BIRTHDAY: A CALL TO REFLECTION AND LEADERSHIP.
As Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State celebrates his 50th birthday today, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and a leader of the thriving national opposition movement in Nigeria, the Alternative, Otunba Segun Showunmi has admonished the Governor not to forget those that assisted him in climbing the ladder of success and not to forget God the giver of all sufficient grace.
In a heartfelt message, Otunba Segun Showunmi, a respected statesman and leader, congratulated Governor Fubara on this momentous occasion. Showunmi's message was a poignant reminder of the importance of leadership, humility, and gratitude.
"Your Excellency, as you celebrate this milestone birthday, it is not just an occasion for merriment, but also a time for reflection and thanksgiving," Showunmi wrote. "By the efforts of men and the grace of God, you have attained an enviable position, giving you a great opportunity to impact your space and do as much good as you can to all that come your way."
Showunmi also offered words of wisdom, cautioning Governor Fubara to beware of sycophants and to remain grounded. "Never forget to always find space to reconnect with yourself, within yourself," he advised. "It is the nature of people to praise today and curse immediately when the tides turn and you have fewer favors to dispense."
In a nod to the complexities of leadership, Showunmi quoted former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, who once said: "When climbing onto the top of the leadership ladder, someone or some people own the ladder you use to climb... As you climb, they become smaller in one's eyes... If you treat the owners of the ladder mindfully, they will produce the ladder for your climb down; otherwise, they will leave you to jump down with its attendant consequences."
As Governor Fubara celebrates this significant birthday, he is reminded of the weight of responsibility that comes with leadership. Showunmi's message serves as a timely reminder of the importance of humility, gratitude, and mindful leadership.
Showunmi said that he has been around for quite some time to understand the nature of political sycophants who will sing hossanah today and shout crucify him tomorrow, therefore, he advised Gov Fubara not to be carried away by the activities of praise singers but rather look inwardly to do what is right all the time.
Join us in wishing Governor Siminalayi Fubara a happy 50th birthday, and many more years of wisdom, leadership, and service to the people of Rivers State.
