Showunmi Calls for Unity In Nigeria, Says Election Is Not War

The leading Peoples DemSegunocratic Party figure who contributed immensely to Hon Oladipupo Adebutu campaign after the live programme where they both settled their differences, Otunba Segun Showunmi has called on Nigerians to refrain from pinching one tribe against another.

Otunba Segun Showunmi, the Otunba Owagbemisoye of Idoani made this statement today after casting his vote at his Itoko ward 6, opposite Itoko town hall in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

He said that this is a civilized society and negative utterances against a major ethnic group in Lagos should be frowned at because we are one people, one nation.

In his remarks, he said said that the gubernatorial election is going smoothly as the BVAS is working perfectly and the accreditation is hitch-free.

Showunmi in high spirit said that the Peoples Democratic Party will in no doubt emerge victoriously in Ogun state.

Showunmi said "well the game at it was last upper week, the accreditation as been pretty smooth and our people have turn up as much as they can', What we will now be waiting for is to hope the process as made known to us that things will be transmitted from here directly to INEC and to Abuja.

The Peoples Democratic Party stalwart posited that People have their expectations on how well it as been conducted, "we have done our part, let who are responsible for the count do their own part, and those who are responsible for the transmitting of the result do their own part".

While responding to reporters on the assessment of the process, he mentioned that as a people we can be proud of ourselves because we have demonstrated that truly democracy works here. 

He said, " I am not even sure anyone can call the election for now, it seems to be a cruise race, the enthusiasm and the campaign is quite close and for the first time in our state, we are having like a tree horse race, but Ibelieve PDP will be victorious".

"We were very optimistic about the previous eletion and you all are aware of what is happening in the country. Until we get to the coalition and analysis will be done.
